The lovely community of Pueblo West is located in Pueblo County, Colorado. Pueblo West is an unincorporated city with a population of 16,899, and is part of the Pueblo Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city of Pueblo West is one of the fastest growing communities in Colorado. The city sits on the southern border of the State's growth corridor. Pueblo is seven miles east, and Canon City is thirty-eight miles west on Highway 50. Denver and Colorado Springscan be reached by Highway 25.
The city of Pueblo West is made up of forty-eight square miles or twenty-six-thousand acres of contiguous land. The Pueblo Dam and Reservoir is just south of Pueblo West. The Pueblo Dam is part of the Fryingpan - Arkansas Water Project. In 1975, the United States Bureau of Reclamation, constructed the dam.

As of the 2000 census, there was a population of 16,899, 4,847 families lived in 5,984 households. The density of the population was 218.1 persons per square mile. 88.45% of whites, 0.83% of African Americans, 0.99% of Native Americans, 1.07% of Asian's, 0.07% of Pacific Islander, 6.01% of other races and 18.30% of Hispanic or Latino's made up the population.
Out of the 5,984 households there were 42.1% of them with children under 18 at the home,
married couples made up 69.9%, female head of household made up 7.5% and non-families made up 19.0%. Seniors over 65 made up 3.5% of the population and 2.80 was the average household size. 3.10 was the average family size.
The population was spread with 18 year olds making up 29.9% of the population, 18 to 24 making up 6.7% of the population, 25 to 44 making up 32.3% of the population, 45 to 64 making up 22.2% of the population and 65 and over making up 8.9% of the population. The average age was 34 years.
The average household income was $48,121, and the average family income was $51,425. Men had an average income of $37,161 versus the female income of $26,310. The per capita income was $20,645. 5.2% of the population was below the poverty line, most of those were under 18 and over 65.
