Colorado Springs has a huge golf community. There is something interesting for everyone. The following is a list of the public courses available. Please feel free to browse any that may catch your eye.
Antler Creek Golf Course opened in 2004 and was named by Colorado Avid Golfer as the best new course. There are six sets of tees that will accommodate any golfer, whether a novice or a seasoned pro. It is Colorado's longest course at 8100 yards long, with three lakes and 73 bunkers throughout. Their rates for 18 holes (including cart) are $32 for non-primetime, $40 for primetime, seniors (55+) are $30 and active or retired military are $29. Their rates for 9 holes (including cart) are $25 anytime. They have special rates for all day (all the golf you can play) for $50 and twilight (including cart) for $29. Junior rates (under 18) are $20 for 18 holes and $12 for 9 holes. The dress code requires smart golf apparel at all times. Tee times can be reserved 7 days in advance (719-494-1900).
Appletree Golf Course combines the styles of both Lee Trevino and Dave Bennett to create this majestic golf course. The course measures 6407 yards, with a rating of 69.9 and par 72. This course was given a 3 star ranking for best places to play by Golf Digest in 2004. Their rates are $23 Monday-Friday, $28 weekends and holidays, $18 for 55+ and military, $15 for twilight play and $12 for cart fee. You can call for reservations (719-382-3649).
Cherokee Ridge Golf Course offers a family atmosphere and relaxed setting to play in. It measures 6426 yards from the back tees. If 18 holes are too much for you to play, they have a great 9 hole course with four sets of tees to accommodate any skill level. The Press Maxwell Golf Course design has strategically placed bunkers, challenging greens and trees all along the fairways. There is a full service golf shop and restaurant in the clubhouse. Golf lessons are available for everyone. Their rates for 18 hole are $25.50 Monday - Sunday. Their rates on 9 hole golf are $12.75 Monday - Sunday, $8 for par 3 courses Monday - Sunday, $6 for par 3 for Senior/Juniors Monday - Thursday only. Their rates on pull carts are $2.50, gas carts (9 holes) are $11.50, club rentals are $6, small range balls are $3.50 and large range balls are $6, jumbo range balls are $12. Junior and senior punch cards are $45 and an adult punch card is $48. The punch cards allow play up to five times on the 9 hole course and are limited to Monday - Thursday Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day and any day the rest of the year. Gleneagle Golf Club will play host to the Pro Tour in October 2006. This will be the 9th stop on the US Pro Golf Tour's 2006 schedule. The course is a Frank Hummel design built in 1972. It is an 18 hole, par 72 with four sets of tees. This course has been rated 74.6 from the back tees. They have a semi-private club, with golf play open to the public. Memberships are available. The pool, tennis and fitness club are all private and require a membership. Their hours of operation are sunup to sundown, 7 days a week. Their rates for 18 holes are $30 walking/$43 riding Monday - Thursday and $40 walking/$53 riding Friday - Sunday/holidays for regular hours, $26 walking/$39 riding Monday - Thursday and $36 walking/$49 riding Friday - Sunday/holidays after 1pm and $22 walking/$35 riding Monday - Thursday and $32 walking/$45 riding Friday - Sunday/holidays after 3pm. Their rates for 9 holes are $20 walking/$29 riding Monday - Thursday and $25 walking/$34 riding Friday - Sunday/holidays for regular hours. Created with an eye toward Scotland, King's Deer Golf Club opened in 1999 and was designed by Redstone Golf (who were involved in The Ridge at Castle Pines). This 18 hole championship golf course measures 7000 yards from the professional tees. King's Deer offers amenities such as a gorgeous clubhouse, restaurant, golf shop, putting and chipping area, elevated practice range and state-of-the-art GPS yardage system on every golf cart. Their weekday rates (Monday - Thursday) are $21 for 9 holes ($9 cart fees), $37 for 18 holes ($14 cart fees), $15 for Junior 9 holes after 12pm, $20 for Junior 18 holes after 12pm, $21 for military/senior 9 holes ($9 cart fees), $32 for military/senior 18 holes ($14 cart fees) and $26 for twilight play (after 3pm, $9 cart fees apply). Their weekend rates (Friday - Sunday & Holidays) are $31 for 9 holes after 12pm ($14 cart fees), $47 for 18 holes ($14 cart fees), $17 for Junior 9 holes after 12pm, $23 for Junior 18 holes after 12pm, $31 for military/senior 9 holes after 12pm ($9 cart fees), $42 for military/senior 18 holes after 12pm ($14 cart fees) and $31 for twilight play (after 3pm, $9 cart fees apply). The dress code requires collared shirts and jeans in good condition (no t-shirts, tank tops, cut-offs or running shorts). The Patty Jewett Golf Course is the third oldest golf course west of the Mississippi. Designed by Willie Campbell in 1898, Patty Jewett has been city-owned since 1919. This is a par 72 course and measures 6811 yards from the championship tees, 6463 yards from regulation tees and 5998 yards from the front tees. A separate 9 hole course is available. They have a great clubhouse with a restaurant and pro shop. Green fees for 18 holes are $24.50 for residents, $31.50 for non-residents. Green fees for 9 holes are $12.75 for residents and $15.75 for non-residents. Annual permits are available and allow permit holders to play at a reduced rate. Cart rentals are $23 for 18 holes and $11.50 for 9 holes. Pull carts are available for rent at $4 for 18 holes and $3 for 9 holes. Locker rental at the clubhouse is $15. Consistently ranked among the top 10 golf courses in Colorado, Pine Creek Golf Club opened in 1988. This 18 hole golf course was designed by Richard Phelps. Offering two to five tee boxes per hole, the Pine Creek golf course measures 5314 yards for the front tees and over 7194 for professional tees. The moderate climate of warm, sunny days and cool evenings offer the opportunity for Pine Creek Golf Club to be open year-round. There is a clubhouse, restaurant, pro shop, putting and chipping greens and an elevated driving range available on-site. Their green fees are $42 for 18 holes, $25 for 9 holes and $27 for twilight (after 2pm) on Monday - Thursday, $52 for 18 holes, $30 for 9 holes after 1pm and $32 for twilight (after 2pm) on Friday - Sunday and $28 for 18 holes and $18 for 9 holes for Juniors (17 and under). Opened in 1978, the Sand Creek Golf Club was designed by Mark Fontana, who manages the course as the president. This 9 hole facility has $9 green fees anytime. For more information, please contact them at 719-597-5489.
The Springs Ranch Golf Club was opened in 1997 and was designed by famed golf course architect Richard Phelps. They have a pro shop and bar & grill located on site. Their 2006 fees are $16 walking/$23 riding for 9 holes, $28 walking/$42 riding for 18 holes on weekdays and $18 walking/$25 riding for 9 holes, $33 walking/$50 riding for 18 holes on weekends and holidays. The Valley Hi Golf Course, opened in 1956 and purchased by the City of Colorado Springs in 1975 is one of two golf courses owned and operated by the City. This is an 18 hole, par 71 course and offers a Learn-to-Golf program for beginners. Green fees for 18 holes are $24.50 for residents and $31.50 for non-residents. Green fees for 9 holes are $12.75 for residents and $15.75 for non-residents. Annual permits are available for purchase that allow permit holders to play for a reduced rate.
